Obituary for Ugochi Carol Mezu
Ugochi Carol Mezu, age 18, of Finksburg, Maryland passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2019. She is the loving daughter of Dr. Onyewuchi Charles Mezu and Mrs. Patricia Ekwutosi Mezu; dear sister of Obichukwu, Nkechi, Nneka, Akunna, Chika, Tobechi, and Chinaka, cherished granddaughter of Clement, Rose, Raphael and Caroline treasured niece of Sebastian, Patricia, Christiana, Bibiana, John, Emmanuel, and Chinyere.
Ugochi loved so many and is loved by so many more. She started as a shy child trying to find her voice to become one of the most vocal in the room. She enjoyed being very active and was involved in many ventures.
While attending Westminster High School, she was involved in cheerleading, the theatre program, the step team (Co-Founder), the Minority Student Union (Board Member), and was a Student Marshal. Her voluntary work includes the Sacred Heart Nursery, the Owl Nest Food drive, and being a Camp Leader.
Her passions were in video production, racial equality and fashion. She was heavily involved with events in the Carroll County community such as the African American Read-In, Culture Fest, and the Video Production Program at the Carroll County Career and Technology Center; the latter of which allowed her and Tobechi to attend the State and National SkillsUSA competition.
Along with Tobechi, they collaborated with Dote Online Shopping Mall to start their own clothing line “Unapologetically You”. She began her collegiate studies at Morgan State University where she was majoring in multimedia platform production and minoring in business administration.
Most importantly, Ugochi had a deep love for her family, and she always cherished the time they spent together.
Viewing services will be held from 10-11 AM with the funeral beginning at 11 AM on Monday, October 14, 2019, at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, 63 Sacred Heart Lane, Glyndon, MD 21071. Interment will proceed at St. Charles Borromeo Church Cemetery, 101 Church Lane, Pikesville, MD 21208.
Reception/Repast will be held at the Mezu residence in Finksburg, Maryland. Memorial contributions in Ugochi’s name may be made to Feeding America. Memory tributes may be sent to the family at www.elinefuneralhome.com
